Skype in the classroom in Forbes

We’re extremely proud of our work on Skype in the classroom, which we’ve mentioned here in the past a couple of times. The community has now grown to over 14,000 teachers and that’s increasing every day.
When we entered it in the Service Design category at the Core 77 Design Awards, our hopes were high, and though we are a bit disappointed that it didn’t win (congrats to Open Ideo, who did), we are really glad to see it get a 'Notable Professional' mention.
Here’s our video submission that explains how we went about building it:
Today, Haydn Shaughnessy also mentioned Skype in the classroom in Forbes. He says:
Skype ran IDEO close in the awards and the reason: purpose.
Skype, let’s face it, made global communications open to all. At the Core77 Design Awards they won a citation for ‘Skype in the classroom ‘collaboration layer for students and teachers’.
He also said:
‘….collaboration might indeed come down to something as simple as being able to talk. Now Skype is layering service on top of its basic free communications functionality. That holds out a lot of promise.’
Skype have been a great client to work for and we look forward to continuing to make Skype in the classroom a utility for the education community in every sense of the word. Watch this space.
