Slideshare presentations of the week: design

This week, our topic of conversation on the blog is design. From design thinking to user experience design and even learner experience design, a term I thought was fairly new but seems to have been mentioned back in 2004.

First, Zaana Howard from Swinburne University in Australia talks about design thinking on the fly, using Agile principles.

Read on for more.

Next is a presentation from SXSW 2011 with Evan Jones from Stitch Media talking about progress bars, which effectively make things like the beachball of death an example of horrible user experience.

Finally, we have Julie Dirksen from Usable Learning talking about learner experience design, which is not just about user experience but about keeping their behaviour in mind: what do they learn when they look at your design?

Some nice stuff here. Quite liking the speed date with design thinking pres. Might I be so bold to add to the mix a visual snackbox of 10 things for better creative thinking;

Thanks Roy – and of course, feel free to add to the mix, that looks like a good presentation too!

I kind of like what madebymany is doing. I also believe that the future is going to be all in the area of social networking…for a purpose …not sharing the breakfast menu, but real world stuff.

Glad you liked the presentation, and thanks for linking to it. Fascinating that the LxD term has been kicking around as long as it has. I’m still trying to decide what I think LxD actually is (or should be).
