Stuff that’s been floating around the office – week ending January 9th, 2009

One week into 2009 and there’s enough for one of my ‘floating around the office’ posts!

1. Power Twitter for Firefox: If you use Firefox, then you should try this. Tim uses it and it’s really sleek. (courtesy Elin)

2. Xtranormal: Make your own animated movies, and explore those made by others. A lot like 4mations.tv, in my opinion, but worth a quick look. (courtesy me)

3. Discovery is the new Cocaine: A great presentation by the guys behind Mr.Tweet about why websites need to be about discovery. (courtesy Alex)

4. The Great British Sandwich: So far, it’s as tall as a Routemaster Bus. Add to it! (courtesy me)

5. The Israeli Consulate in New York takes to Twitter: As the battle in Gaza rages on, the Israeli Consulate organised a ‘citizen’s press conference’ – on Twitter. And amidst a lot of controversy. (courtesy Tim)

6. Webmynd – Another Firefox extension, Webmynd functions like a web DVR. I haven’t tried it out yet, but if you do, let us know how it works. (courtesy me)

7. Augmented reality in the iPhone: A few months old now, but still an interesting video. (courtesy David)

8. Beware of the Doghouse: This started off as something, and wound up as something else. Click ALL the links on the main page to see what it’s about! (courtesy me)

9. How to Use Twitter for Marketing and PR: Just one word of advice. Literally. (courtesy Tim)

10. BBC iPlayer Picture Desk: An interesting article on the BBC iPlayer Picture Desk and the BBC Staff Flickr pool. (courtesy Stuart)

11. The Extraordinaries: On-demand volunteering opportunities to your mobile phone. (courtesy David)

12. Twitter for Peace: No end to Twitter news, is there? If you’re a pacifist or a peacenik, declare it on Twitter by using the hashtag #peace. (courtesy Tim)
