Timelines: Facebook have done something cool that actually looks nice

Wow, I've never experienced this feeling before. 

Facebook have done something cool. The new Timeline profile page is phenomenally well designed - almost magical compared to what was there before. 

I love timelines, and this one really puts your life in perspective. I've only been on Facebook since 2007, but the timeline goes back to my birth. Here's a neat little video Facebook have made that shows how rich this feature could become.

It's like a virtual flythrough of your life. 

I haven't played with the new Ticker features - to be honest I rarely actually visit Facebook but have hooked up my Twitter feed, so my timeline profile looks like a bit of a weird Twitter stream until you go a bit further back. But I love it - it's putting people at the centre of the experience in a new way, and it's bringing your life and the stream closer than ever.

@maccman suggested this morning that the missing piece of the timeline is a death date - which put me in mind of  The Death Clock, but he then showed me this delightful start-up by one of his mates. If we can get this integrating with Facebook then we could get a live countdown onto the page and that would really put things into perspective.

I'm giving all this new stuff a good old-fashioned 'Like'.
