The World Gold Council is an industry association of the world's leading gold mining companies. Its core purpose is to stimulate demand for gold from industry, consumers, and investors.
Made by Many was asked by the World Gold Council to review its communication strategy and identify options to use social media to promote gold sales internationally. The goal was to establish new ways of reaching a wider audience in different gold applications in retail, industry and investment. Gold Innovations, built around an international scientific conference, was the first implementation of the new strategy.
Our approach
The Gold Innovations blog, built on a customised edition of the Wordpress platform, was a low cost means of introducing a new audience in the technical press, scientific community, industry and the investment community to accessible and easy to understand new on key developments in the gold applications in electronics, health and automotive sectors.
The blog brought together a community of academics, entrepreneurs and engineers. We set out to cross interdisciplinary boundaries in order to stimulate innovation and generate new ideas for applications of gold technology. The blog spotlights important research and encourages citation and circulation in an industry where information is often buried in lengthy reports.

How it all went
One of the primary aims of the blog was to foster collaboration between members of the research community and those involved in industrial applications of gold. Gold Innovations was used successfully to this end before, during and after the Gold 2009 conference in Heidelberg. It continues to act as a platform for communication, development and learning.
